Stolbtsy - city, the centre of Stolbtsovsky area of Minsk region with the population of 15,5 thousand people Stolbtsovsky area settles down in the west of Minsk region and occupies the territory of 1,9 thousand sq.km. Borders with Volozhinsky, Dzerzhinsky, Uzdensky, Kopylsky, Nesvizhsky, Korelichsky, Novogrudsky and Ivjevsky areas. General information about Stolbtsy: The city is known since 1st half of XVI century. In the beginning of XVII-th century this place belonged to A.Slushka who in 1623 has based here a monastery of Dominicans with a church. During the war of Russia with Rech Pospolitaya and Northern war Stolbtsy have been strongly destroyed. In 1729 the place has acquired the Magdebourg right. Since 1793 was in structure of the Russian empire, since 1796 - the centre of volost of the Minsk district. In 1871 in 2 km from Stolbtsy on the railway Moscow-Brest has been constructed the railway station with the same name. In 1921-39 Stolbtsy are in structure of Poland. Since 1939 - in BSSR. Transport communications in Stolbtsy: The city is situated on the right bank of the river Neman in 78 km to the southwest from Minsk; railway station on the line Minsk-Brest; near the highway Minsk-Brest.
