The Baranovichsky area is located in the north of the Brest region and occupies the territory of 2,2 thousand sq.km. Borders with Ljahovichsky and Ivatsevichsky areas of Brest region, Nesvizhsky area of Minsk region, Slonimsky, Korelichsky, Novogrudsky, Djatlovsky areas of Grodno region. General information about Baranovichi: In comparison with other Belarusian settlements and places Baranovichi is a young city. For the first time Baranovichi are mentioned in 1706 in connection with building of the Moscow-Brest railway. In 1871 year operation of the railway station with the same name has begun. Today Baranovichi -is the second-large city of Brest region, with the developed mechanical engineering, chemical, the food-processing industry. Transport communications in Baranovichi: The city is on the distance of 220 km from Brest and in 162 km from Minsk.
