Octiabrsky - settlement of city type, the centre of Octiabrsky area of Gomel region with the population of 7,9 thousand people

The Octiabrsky area is located in the northwest of Gomel region and occupies the territory of 1,4 thousand sq.km. Borders with Petrikovsky, Kalinkovichsky, Svetlogorsky areas of Gomel region, with Bobruisky and Glussky areas of Mogilev region and Ljubansky area of Minsk region.

General information about Octiabrsky:

It is formed in 1954 as a result of association of villages Karpilovka, Rudobelka and Rudnja. The village Rudobelka is known from the middle of XV century as grand-ducal possession, was in time possession at Radzivilly, Vishnevetsky, etc. In the end of XVIII-th century belonged to landowner D.Lapa who has based here a manor of Karpilovka and in the 1st half of XIX-th century has spent extensive meliorative works. On June, 28th, 1939 the Octiabrsky area with the centre in village Karpilovka has been formed. Since 1954 Octiabrsky is in Gomel region

The settlement is located on the river Neratovka in 190 km from Gomel. In settlement there is a railway station on the line Zhlobin - Rabkor. By highways it is connected with Glusk, Ozarichi, Parichi.
